The fine, sunny weather over Easter presented perfect timing for us to move Red Poll steers from the farm onto spring grass alongside the river Cam in Cambridge. They always seem to adapt instantly to their new environment, pleased to be on new grass and apparently unphased by the sights and sounds of city life. This season we have a group of steers on Midsummer Common and are also taking advantage of the availability of a number of other sites for summer grazing within Cambridge. The meadows at Grantchester and Trumpington once again offer us grazing from the spring through until the autumn and the group that are there are tackling the abundant grazing in this idyllic pastural setting. The BBC2 seasonal food series ‘What to Eat Now’ will be including a focus on beef in their summer series. Over the last few weeks filming has been taking in Cambridge and footage of the Red Polls on Midsummer Common will be featured. We continue to market our meat through farmers markets, selected butchers in Cambridge and through a box delivery scheme. Also look out for us at the fair on Parker’s Piece on 13/14 June. Home deliveries to store and freeze Boxes with a minimum order of £50, with your chosen cuts, can be delivered to your door on the dates below. Please choose your meat and the date of delivery with the order form. If you are not going to be in on the day please let us know as we can usually find alternative arrangements.
